Homeowners in Denver and nearby suburbs expecting that a battered real estate market would give them a property-tax break got a surprise when they received their tax bills in the mail last week.
Many of the bills showed home valuations, on average, increasing across the metropolitan area.
Your house is worth $20,000+ less now than it was a few years ago and yet your property taxes are likely to have risen. Does this really seem fair? Does this kind of story make you feel like your government is looking out for you? Not me, taxes keep going up and the services that the majority of the people approve of the government doing, like police and schools, keep getting worse.
