While Denver struggles with a $120-million budget shortfall, the city continues to push forward with almost 4-million dollars in art projects. According to an internal spreadsheet produced by city administrators, 47 projects are on tap across the city for an estimated $3,850,000. That dollar-figure does not take into account the fact that at least 4 projects slated by the city were given an "unknown" dollar estimate in the spreadsheet.

The independence institute has also placed an MP3 about the issue on the site, if you follow the link to the full story.
Think about this the next time a tax decrease is proposed or something else that limits the government, and the bureaucrats start threatening to cut the police/fire/roads/school budgets yet make no mention of any of the less popular programs, like Denver’s bad art subsidy program.
