AURORA | One citizen group is voicing its opposition to a proposed hike to property taxes that would go to help fund the city’s library system.
The Citizens for Responsible Aurora Government recently launched an opposition campaign to ballot measure 4A, an initiative that will go before Aurora voters this fall. The Aurora Public Library general improvement district ballot question asks voters to create a new general improvement district to secure money for the city’s libraries. The proposed levy would be an added 4.29 mills, which would translate into an extra $5.69 a month on a $200,000 home.

This group has the right idea. Unfortunately it always seems like people have to fight to prevent tax increases from passing. For every 10 increases in taxes proposed you are lucky if one decrease in taxes is proposed.
