From MTM, a little commentary on felon roundups:

While I applaud LEA's doing their jobs, i.e., taking; "A total of 162 murder suspects, 553 rape or sexual assault suspects...638 of those arrested were suspected of armed robbery while 68 kidnapping suspects were detained.", I wonder about the between-the-lines message in the following:
Even counting the "154 gang members" (whose crimes are not clear to me), this adds up to 1,475 suspects of violent crimes. Who are the other 8,865 citizens who were arrested?? This is starting to scare me.
"Operation FALCON, which stands for "federal and local cops organized nationally," marked the first time the marshals teamed up with state and local law enforcement in a concentrated, nation-wide effort to round up fugitives." Why does this concept scare me?
"Previous coordinated roundups were on a regional basis and did not involve as many officers or agencies." This actually makes me feel much safer. Checks and balances, ya know?
"Officials said they did not have figures for how many federal, state and local fugitives still remained at large. But Gonzales said there was an "endless list" of fugitives." An endless list?? When I make a list, even a very long one, it has a beginning and an end. This really scares me.
"At some point it would be very important to get all warrants into (the national database)," said Bob Finan, the marshals' assistant director for investigations. While I'm sure this would help LEA's do their job, do we really want this?
