Since the 1970s, Detroit's Big Three auto makers have failed to keep up in the competitive auto industry. High labor costs and inflexible work rules, as well as a failure to overcome negative consumer sentiments have combined to bring the Detroit-based auto manufacturers to their knees. Now they are begging the federal government for a bailout to the tune of $75 billion!

Of course the best answer is to not bail out the auto makers, but if the government insists on wasting all of this money on the auto makers, I say they should buy 5 million vehicles for an average of $15,000 each and then give everyone a chance to enter into an auto lottery to win one of these cars or trucks. At least then there is something to show for the money. It gives the workers some work. It takes old vehicles off of the road.
