Alan Snodgrass a rafting guide with Arkansas Valley Adventures Rafting saves a 13 year girl, while the police and other rescuers are still trying to organize their plan, get their equipment together, etc., this would make him a hero right? No, it makes him a criminal in the eyes of the police. They charged him with obstructing a government operation (the rescue of the girl) by rescuing the girl before they carried out their “operation”. I understand that there was a chance he could have had a problem and then there would be two people in need of rescue, but that did not happen and the girl was saved in less time and with less expense than the government would have required to save her. I don't see the reason for not just appreciating his heroics and moving on, instead the police felt they should arrest a real hero.
